INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 101 FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS  - For many organizations, acquiring and maintaining technology can be overwhelming, costly and confusing. This workshop is the first in a two part series which will focus on helping participants assess their information technology systems.  A simple and effective process for evaluating an organization’s equipment and general technology environment will be presented.  Participants will be provided with a checklist to quickly assess their own environment and allow for future strategic planning.

ARE YOU AN ACCIDENTAL TECHIE AT YOUR ORGANIZATION?  - Often, an employee becomes an Accidental Techie so gradually that it is hardly noticeable, until suddenly one day we find that he or she is spending most of the day racing around from user to user, solving various problems. This workshop will discuss the general role of the accidental techie at nonprofit organizations, as well as offer tips on how to prevent users from overwhelming ATs with their requests and issues. We will discuss ways to develop an effective day to day plan that maximizes office operations and manages users’ expectations. We will provide basic troubleshooting strategies for hardware and software issues, and will offer suggestions for effective backups and recovery.
